Elise Cole works with her hands a lot, all of the time. She keeps them busy! If not cutting, coloring or styling hair, she’s spinning yarn or doing art!
“I can take wool from a sheep and turn it into yarn… its magic,” Elise said. I recently crocheted and sold a Mermaid tail blanket. All the money I make from art is donated to Free Wigs for Kids.”
Free Wigs for Kids, founded by HairPlaceNYC’s owner Andrew DiSimone, provides wigs to children suffering from medical hair loss. Not only do they provide free wigs, they cut, color and style the wigs at no charge.
“Elise has worked for me, on-and-off for the past 20 years”, said Andrew DiSimone, owner of HairPlaceNYC. “She is an amazing hair stylist. Her clients love her, and we appreciate that she uses her passion for art and knowledge of business to help kids in need of wigs. Elise is truly a special person.”
“I chose to be a hair stylist to help people celebrate their life by making them look and feel great” she said. “I’ve been a hairdresser for 39 years, with clients dating back to the beginning. Originally, I wanted to get into special effects, but found my true calling as a hairdresser – a special effects artist for the individual.” And Andrew encourages each stylist to be an artist with their own style. Hairdressing and Andrew have been amazing to me… I am so grateful for that.” ✂️☮
